Where are the props now?

How many original film or TV props still survive? We know some went into auctions, we know some were given away in competitions. Do they still survive? And what was the fate that befell those that didn't get a definite home? Obviously some of the props fell into collectors hands over the years and some of those examples are listed here. But if you have any information on original Dalek props, please do not hesitate to contact us.

Here are some props we know still exist, and their last known whereabouts:

Mick Hall has a vast collection of original props, and one of his prize possessions is one of the original props from 'Dalek Invasion Earth 2150AD'. This prop was used as the basis for all the officially sold This Planet Earth Daleks. There is loads of information on his Dalek including some pictures of it being used in the film itself. There is also some great stuff on all the other items in his collection. His site can be found here.

Chris Balcombe had information one of the original TV props on his site (unfortunately now down). It was originally made for 'Revelation of the Daleks' and was subsequently refurbished for 'Remembrance of the Daleks'.

Chris is also the owner of a couple of original Dalek 'sections' These two parts were cut out of some original props to make the 'walk-in' Dalek seen at the Dapol exhibition and now at the exhibition in Blackpool (repainted silver). Specifically it was from the film skirt and original Shawcraft shoulders. Chris' own site is now down but his collectors page on 'Richard Who' can be found here.

Indeprod bought the 'oddball' prop at an auction in 2005. Visitors were welcome to visit the prop, but in 2009 it went up for auction yet again. It's current whereabouts is now unknown.

The 'Wilkie' Dalek is so called because it was originally owned by Bernard Wilkie of the BBC Special Effects department. It is now owned by his son Martin. It is now on show at the various Doctor Who exhibitions that are travelling the country at the moment. Its not quite in the same guise as it appeared in 'Evil' as the shoulders are a different 'film style' section (although they were still used in the show) and the neck is not original. More on this prop can be found on the 'Evil' page.
Stuart Evans (of Sevans models fame) has an original Shawcraft prop. Its pictured here with Bill Roberts of Shawcraft.
This 'top half' is part of a large and very impressive Doctor Who prop collection owned by Simon Gray, Matt and Sarah Parish. It is a repainted 'Necros' prop with the chipped 'Five Doctors' dome. The website of the collection can be found here.
This is a "Dr Who and the Daleks" film 'extra'. It has been repainted and looks as if the shoulder section now has a 'look-out'. No information about the owner or whereabouts is available.
The BBC 'cult' offices were known to have a TV prop at one time and used to have a picture of it on the site. The picture seems to have been removed and it's unknown if the prop is still there.

In time we hope to expand this page even further as more information becomes available. If you own or know the whereabouts of an original Dalek prop, and you would like it featured, please let us know.
